Standard steam coils are used for general air heating applications where steam is supplied through the coil tubes and condensate is discharged through the outlet connection. These coils are typically used in air handlers, make-up air units, duct heaters, preheat sections, and process heating systems.

They are a practical solution for applications with stable operating conditions and proper condensate drainage. Standard steam coils are commonly selected for comfort heating, ventilation air heating, and general HVAC service.

Steam distributing coils are designed for improved steam distribution and more uniform heating across the coil face. They typically use an inner steam distributing tube inside the outer condensing tube, allowing steam to be delivered more evenly throughout the coil.

This design helps improve freeze resistance, reduce temperature stratification, and provide more reliable operation in low-temperature air applications. Steam distributing coils are commonly used for preheat coils, make-up air units, ventilation systems, and outdoor air applications where freezing conditions may occur.
